My new Nokia 6290

Nokia 6290So I finally bought a Nokia 6290 after much deliberation :) I still think that the user interface could be more polished, but I decided that I can live with that. The different preferences for example are sometimes hard to find because they are spread out in different places with many levels of submenus. However it makes up for some of its faults by being quite customisable, even though that’s not a very good usability design :)

I of course tend to compare the 6290 with my previous phone: a SonyEricsson K700i, which was a great phone with a well designed UI (but it’s navi-button started to jam). But of course comparing the user interfaces is a bit unfair since the 6290 is a much more advanced phone, almost a computer, and the interface needs to be much more flexible.

Otherwise I’m pretty satisfied with my new phone. There is even a version of PuTTY for Symbian OS available, and I installed it and it worked perfectly. I even managed to log in to a server and start irssi :)
